The Chinese city of Hangzhou confirmed the visit of Argentina for a friendly in March

The vice mayor of Hangzhou today confirmed the visit of the Argentine soccer team to the Chinese city next March with its captain Leo Messi leading the current world champion.

Chen Weiqiang, an official from the city of the eastern province of Zhejiang, assured this Tuesday in a video published on the official account of the XIX Asian Games on the Wechat platform that the South American team will play one of its two friendlies on the FIFA date to March in Hangzhou.

“This year we are actively planning many international competitions, some of which are being actively coordinated and will arrive at our doorstep. For example, in March of this year, the Argentine national team, of course, with Messi too, will come to Hangzhou to play football,” declared the politician.

On January 16, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced that the Albiceleste team will travel to the Asian giant next March to play two friendly matches, with rivals yet to be officially determined.

“During the coming weeks, the rivals for both matches will be announced. The Argentine National Team will begin its path to the 2024 Copa América in Asia, reaffirming the interest of the public of that continent in our National Team and of the Asian companies that work with AFA in this market,” the AFA statement revealed.

The Argentine media indicated that the matches would be played in the capital of the Asian giant, against China, and in the aforementioned Hangzhou against a top team, although with Chen’s statements it has only been possible to confirm the venue of the second match.
