Doctor Giuseppe Ruffinengo, 95, a historian dentist from Fossano, died today (Wednesday 24 November), in his home in via Risaglia. He had been ill for some time.

Originally from Bra, his mother lost at the age of 5, he was sent to boarding school by the Salesians, first in Alassio and then in Fossano. Towards the end of the Second World War, he joined the partisans of the Braidese area with his older brother Bartolo. After the war, they attended the University of Medicine in Turin together, both specializing in Dentistry. In 1956 they opened a dental practice in via Roma in Fossano, and then split up. Giuseppe remained in the city of the Acaja and moved the business to Viale Regina Elena, Bartolo inaugurated another in Bra. Over time, Ruffinengo became one of the most appreciated and respected dentists in Fossano, welcoming patients for several generations.

From children to teens who once adults and then parents entrusted them with the care of their children’s teeth. Retired since 1993, Giuseppe Ruffinengo was a man with a reserved, generous and selfless character. He loved the mountains (the Pesio and Maira Valleys, in particular) and long walks: meticulous, he also walked 10-15 km every day to keep fit. Of profound culture, he was also a great lover of books, classical music and jazz.

He leaves his wife Marisa Battaglia, his son Alessandro (dentist, he continues his father’s business) and grandchildren. The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow, Thursday 25 November, at 3 pm, in the parish church of Santa Maria del Salice in Fossano.
