“Regret” the love of father and daughter in the film age is sincere and touching “One Second” pays tribute to all those who love movies

The story of the movie “One Second” took place in the mid-1970s. The reform-through prisoner Zhang Jiusheng (played by Zhang Yi), who escaped from the reform-through-labor farm, travels through the desert, just to watch a movie with a “one second” video of his daughter. On the way to find the location of the film, he ran into Liu Yumi (played by Liu Haocun). The two came to the film projectionist Fan Film (played by Fan Wei) after the film, but due to accidental damage to the film, the projectionist Fan Film led the people A “national action” to save the movie started… Finally, Zhang Jiusheng saw his daughter’s “one second” image from the movie as he wished. In an instant, complex emotions poured into his heart, tears streaming down his face. This “regret” father-daughter relationship is sincere and moving, which moved countless viewers.

“One Second” sent director Zhang Yimou’s feelings and awe to the film era. The story of the film is inspired by the director’s own early experiences. The curtain fell, the lights came on, and the ten miles and eight villages gathered to go to the light and shadow appointment. In the 1970s, movies were extremely cherished “spiritual food”. Watching a movie was a major event like the New Year, and it was a light that shined into people’s poor lives. The director expresses the memory of the film era that he has hidden deep in his mind more affectionately, forming a realistic story focusing on the small characters of the big era, fully demonstrating the humanistic feelings. It can be said that “One Second” is a love letter to movies, a grand confession to movies, and a tribute to all those who love movies.

The praise of this film has been universal. I’ve loved Zhang Yimou’s best films for decades. So it is exceedingly frustrating that we are being prevented from seeing this or acquiring a copy to watch. As if it were a grenade that would kill if it were passed into our hands. I just absolutely do not understand why there is no release, no distribution, no availability of any kind for us.
