The Ministry of Culture pointed out on the 24th that in response to the vigorous development of Taiwanese dramas in recent years, the brand’s international reputation and audiences at home and abroad have increased. Discussing the volume of voices, this year’s Golden Bell Awards will be oriented towards innovation from awards ceremonies, awards, etc., including the award ceremony being divided into two performances, the program category and the drama category, the introduction of the audience voting mechanism, the children’s and youth program awards are subdivided into children’s program awards and youth program awards, Special prizes are awarded to 100,000 prize money and so on.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Culture held the “111 Annual TV Golden Bell Award Reform Explanation Press Conference”, which was attended by Li Jinghui, Deputy Minister of Culture, Cao Ruiyuan, Director General of the 110 TV Golden Bell Awards, and General Manager Tang Shengrong, Special Award Committee Member. Li Jinghui announced that the Golden Bell Awards Program and Drama Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday and Saturday in late October for two consecutive days.
Cao Ruiyuan said that the reform of the TV Golden Bell Award is a very forward-looking and responsible act. He hoped that the Ministry of Culture will continue to invest resources. He believes that the film and television industry will become the driver of the country’s future economic industry and usher in the golden decade of the industry. Tang Shengrong mentioned that the change of the Golden Bell Award is a higher respect and encouragement for the industry, and it is also the key to changing all aspects of the industry.
The Ministry of Culture pointed out that 27 awards will be awarded in the drama category of the Golden Bell Awards this year, among which 4 awards will be added for “series and mini-series”, including the award for styling design, visual effects, theatrical soundtrack and theme song. There are 21 awards in the program category. The original “Children’s Program Award” will be subdivided into “Children’s Program Award” and “Juvenile Program Award” according to the different audiences and production and broadcasting methods of children’s and juvenile programs.
The Ministry of Culture mentioned that this year’s Golden Bell Awards refer to the concept of multiple awards given by the Emmy Awards in the United States, and divide the TV Golden Bell Awards ceremony into two awards: “program” and “drama”, which makes the time of the ceremony more flexible. The audience voting mechanism will also be introduced, and the “Most Popular Drama Program Award” and “Most Popular Variety Show Award” will be added to increase audience participation and enhance the discussion volume of the Golden Bell event.
In addition, in order to recognize individuals or groups that have made outstanding achievements in promoting the TV business and industrial development in Taiwan, and establish industry role models, the winner of the “Special Award” will be awarded a bonus of 100,000 yuan. The 111 Annual TV Golden Bell Awards will open for registration on April 1 and close on May 3. The registration period for the special awards is from April 1st to June 2nd.
