But above all it has rediscovered the great events, from the Architecture Biennale to the film festival that opens on Tuesday 1 September, all within the celebrations of the first 1600 years of life. of the Serenissima. Great events alongside, in fact, events like this one of Dolce & Gabbana, which after the house will present the collections of haute couture (unique pieces for women), haute couture (men) and the new lines of high jewelery and watches. Three days to show the umpteenth and always renewed creative effort of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and of the company they founded, but also the excellence of Made in Italy, craftsmanship and, for the home, also of “manufacturing craftsmanship”, so to speak, because the furniture is the result of a partnership with the Luxury Living group, leader in the world of furniture and in particular of the one created together with stylists.

From Florence to Venice

A year ago the three days of the maison’s most exclusive collections were set up in Florence, a stage of the very personal grand tour started by Dolce & Gabbana with the presentation of the first high fashion collection, in 2012. “This house is the first major project since then, the most demanding for nearly ten years in terms of energy, from the creative to the economic ones – explain the two stylists -. Haute couture, haute couture, high jewelery and high watchmaking continue to be a very important commitment, but season after season, year after year, the mechanism is, so to speak, oiled. For the house, on the other hand, we started from scratch. Or maybe not really. ” The doubt and the laughter that accompany it is quickly explained: “We have always been passionate about furniture and furnishings and in recent years we have often thought about creating our own line. After all, it is a natural step, after having built, in decades of work, a real universe, a lifestyle, as the Americans say. But the right partners were needed and during Covid we found them ».

Partnership of excellence

The furniture for the living area and bed, as well as for the kitchen and many other environments, are the result of an agreement (“not a license”, underline Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana) with Luxury Living, leader in Italy and in the world in furniture-design. Then there are the accessories, the fabrics (but perhaps it would be more correct to speak of “clothes for the home”), the small accessories and, last but not least, lamps and chandeliers, the result of joint work with artisans from every Italian region and names of furniture-design such as Barovier & Toso, Fontana Arte, Orsani (mosaics). From Sicilian ceramics, to wooden tables, a collage of taste, skilled hands and materials of excellence: in this case too, no license agreements, but Dolce & Gabbana “guided” partnerships. «Nothing happens by chance or maybe everything happens by chance and then it is recomposed as if by magic in a large painting – add the two stylists -. The exhibition at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia focuses on two of the four themes of the home line, the leopard-print world and that of the Sicilian cart (see the collage of images above).
