The large-scale drama “Yusiweisheng” is directed by the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, produced by the Provincial Performing Arts Group, and arranged by the Provincial Drama Theater. The play focuses on contemporary Hunanese who have played an important role in all walks of life in the journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. By telling their stories, the group portraits of Hunan’s advanced model figures in the new era are presented.
The play selects Zhang Chao, Zhou Chunmei, Ai Aiguo, Zou Bin, Jiang Mengnan, Zhong Yang, etc. as the role prototypes of contemporary Hunan characters, and uses the creative techniques of unit stories and group portraits to connect independent and interrelated chapters into a series. The drama vividly shows the struggle group portraits of Hunan’s children.
It is understood that the artistic style of the play is positioned as a “new drama” combining realism and romanticism. It is divided into three chapters, “Guardian”, “Craftsman” and “Chasing”. The five stories of “The Craftsman of a Great Country”, “The Bird without Foot” and “Chasing” are connected into a whole in the way of prose and poetry. The language style pursues “poeticization”, allowing the audience to experience the beauty of literature, artistic conception and Hunan culture while enjoying the play.
