The most reliable cars according to the German Automobile Club

by admin

ROME – In its monitoring activity of the motoring world, Adac, the authoritative German automobile club, has recently drawn up a ranking of the most reliable cars, however, based on an unusual evaluation criterion, namely the number of calls made to the assistance service road (where a lower rating therefore indicates a more reliable car).

Thus, taking into consideration 109 models of 25 brands registered between 2011 and 2018 (with at least ten thousand units sold), the ADAC collected the number of interventions (per thousand cars) carried out over the course of a year. The analysis was then divided by market segment, distinguishing between compact, medium and large models. Obviously, in this era of forced stops due to the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic, the low battery (46.3% of reports) stood out among the main causes of roadside assistance calls.

From the analysis of the German automobile club, the least reliable car was the 2011 Kia Ceed, with 52.7 failures per 1000 cars. The situation changes only with the most recent models, which were found to be almost failure-free. Poor performance also for the Hyundai i20 (42.2 failures for the 2011 model), the Seat Alhambra and the Volkswagen Sharan, with above-average frequency failures, in all model years, as well as the Smart Forfour and Fortwo.

Following these results, Autouncle.it analysts decided to seek the diffusion (in the sense of the models currently on sale) of the cars reported by ADAC (limited to the year 2018), thus drawing up an ideal ranking of the most reliable . Many cars “made in Germany” (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) obtained the highest scores, but there were also some surprises such as the Japanese Mitsubishi Asx and the Korean Kia Sportage, to which is added a good performance of the British Mini Cooper.
