The new Triumph Tiger 1200 arrives at Eicma 2021, but still in prototype form

by admin

Triumph’s Eicma 2021 is in grand style, bringing ten unpublished motorcycles to the Milan Fair, including new models and special editions. News that cross the entire range and to which is added the icing on the cake of the new Tiger 1200, of which, however, not much has been revealed in terms of technical characteristics. At the center of the stand stands the new Speed Triple 1200 RR, with an elegantly retro line and details in carbon fiber. A street sports car with a café racer style but enriched by the most complete technological package ever seen on a Hinckley motorcycle. Next to her is the Tiger Sport 660, which was developed on the 3-cylinder platform launched by the highly commercially successful Trident 660.

This medium-sized Tiger wants to conquer the public with a complete proposal able to combine maximum transversality of use with the typical fun of the “triple” engine. The Bonneville Goldline range, on the other hand, is represented in a wide variety of finishes and colors inspired by the fantasy of the custom landscape, all finished by hand with a level of attention to detail.

craftsmanship: the inimitable Bobber, the refined T100 and T120, the exuberant Scrambler 1200 XE and Street Scrambler 900. Then we continue with the special editions of three iconic models of the Triumph range: the Street Twin EC1, inspired by the urban culture of East London , the Thruxton RS Ton Up that celebrates the dawn of road racing, and the Rocket 2 R 221, the cruiser of records.

Returning to the new Tiger 1200, the one seen in hall 15 is a pre-production prototype of what will be the future flagship of the British manufacturer’s adventure range. The motorcycle has been almost completely redesigned, with a focus more shifted towards off-road driving, starting with the excellent dynamic qualities of the Tiger 800. Thus the 1200 appears leaner and more compact, also thanks to the aesthetics signed by Rodolfo Frascoli, while the champion American motocross Ricky Carmichael made his contribution in technical development. In all likelihood, there will be two versions, one with a 21-inch front wheel and a more road-going version with a 19-inch wheel.

The numbers of the three-cylinder engine are not yet known, but for the first time it uses the crankshaft with T-Plane architecture, i.e. with irregular bursts to improve delivery. The ride-by-wire throttle, three riding modes, inertial platform and semi-active suspension complete the picture.
