The final evening of the LXXV edition of the Premio Strega, staged at Villa Giulia, did not reserve any particular surprises: everything went as planned, therefore, with the winner in the lead even in the votes that preceded the last session.

Romano, class of ’64, former author of “The dogs of nothingness” (Einaudi, 2003) and “The book of perpetual joy” (Rizzoli, 2010), Trevi – who came close to being recognized in 2012 with “Something written” (Ponte alle Grazie, 2012) – was given as the favorite after the exclusion from the final of Teresa Ciabatti with “Seva Bellezza” (Mondadori).
The five, as well as Trevi, was composed of Donatella di Pietrantonio, “Borgo Sud” (Einaudi), Edith Bruck, “Il pane perduto” (The ship of Theseus, winner of the Strega Giovani), Giulia Caminito, “The water del lago is never sweet “(Bompiani, winner of the” off “version) and Andrea Bajani,” The book of houses “(Feltrinelli).

The live broadcast of the event, conducted by a lively Geppi Cucciari, was broadcast on Raitre starting at 11.00 pm. The historic slate of votes, placed in the garden of the Nymphaeum, marked the preferences expressed by the jurors, equal to 589 (with a vote percentage of about 89%): for Trevi 187 votes; follow: di Pietrantonio 135 votes, Bruck 123 votes, Caminito 78 votes, Bajani 66 votes. The seat was chaired by Sandro Veronesi, winner of the last edition, who in the final announcement, also excited, forgot to announce the winner’s votes and mistakenly attributed his book to Einaudi.
