Everything as forecasts and script without jolts for the evening of the most famous prize: Emanuele Trevi wins the Strega 2021 Award with 187 votes for “Two Lives” (Neri Pozza, pp. 144, € 12). In second place Donatella Di Pietrantonio with “Borgo Sud” (Einaudi), 135 votes.

The final evening of the LXXV edition of the Premio Strega, staged at Villa Giulia, did not reserve any particular surprises: everything went as planned, therefore, with the winner in the lead even in the votes that preceded the last session.

Romano, class of ’64, former author of “The dogs of nothingness” (Einaudi, 2003) and “The book of perpetual joy” (Rizzoli, 2010), Trevi – who came close to being recognized in 2012 with “Something written” (Ponte alle Grazie, 2012) – was given as the favorite after the exclusion from the final of Teresa Ciabatti with “Seva Bellezza” (Mondadori).

The seat was chaired by Sandro Veronesi, winner of the last edition, who in the final announcement, also excited, forgot to announce the winner’s votes and mistakenly attributed his book to Einaudi.
