ROME – The Taobuk Award 2021 was assigned to Michelangelo Pistoletto, Italian painter and sculptor, considered one of the major protagonists of the world art scene of our time: a recognition that Taormina Book Festival (scheduled from 17 to 21 June) confers for the extraordinary career and Pistoletto’s inexhaustible artistic research, with particular attention to his most recent inspiration, that linked to the Third Paradise project. “The Taobuk Award 2021 goes to Michelangelo Pistoletto – recalled Antonella Ferrara, founder and artistic director of Taormina Book Festival – for reminding us, at the height of a bright career, that we must look to” a new level of planetary civilization, indispensable for to ensure the survival of mankind “. Through the project of the Third Paradise, Michelangelo Pistoletto has identified a new myth “which leads everyone to assume a personal responsibility in this epochal juncture”.

Pistoletto will receive the Taobuk Award on Saturday 19 June in Taormina, at 6 pm in Palazzo Ciampoli, and will immediately be the protagonist of a masterful dialogue on the theme “In the post-pandemic world a new balance between man and nature: the Third Paradise”, dedicated to experience of the “void” and of the causes that originated the pandemic up to the concept of the Third Paradise, through which Pistoletto for over twenty years has explained the urgent need for a new balance between man and Nature, also in light of the occasion that today it presents itself to form a new humanity. The conversation will be conducted by the journalist Roberta Scorranese of Corriere della Sera.
