Tourism in nature, over 140 flower gardens to visit without stress

by admin

In 1870 the construction on the Lama stream – which in the Middle Ages had been a tower and castle and later became a country palace – was enriched with a garden designed by the botanist Ludwig Winter. The Bioenergetic Historical Park of Borgo Seghetti Panichi in Castel di Lama, in the province of Ascoli Piceno ( seghettipanichi.it ), is testimony to his great love for palms: here you can in fact admire a rare specimen of Jubaea spectabilis, the Heritea armata with a silver blue color and gigantic Washingtonia filifera. And still citrus groves, rose gardens, areas dedicated to irises, peonies, but also particularities such as the Sofora Japonica Pendula dating back to 1875. Not only that: the park is reported as the first historical Italian garden with surveys of vast bioenergy areas. And to please the palate, as well as the eyes, at the “Ristorante del Borgo” you can taste spring recipes with flowers and aromatic herbs, also thanks to the vegetable garden and spices. It is also possible to stay in the suites and lodgings of the residences inside the park.

Gardens have always been places of beauty and charm with a strong symbolic value – just think of the Garden of Eden or the oriental concept of the garden that favors the balance and the encounter between man and nature – and over time they have become real and its own tourist destinations, so much so that, given the growing interest of new generations for nature and issues related to the environment, in 1997 a network was born, Grandi Giardini Italiani ( grandigiardini.it), a cultural enterprise that works closely with Municipalities and Regions to create tourist itineraries that enhance the public heritage of parks and gardens with an online ticketing system available for all the gardens of the network which in Italy are 143, in 13 regions , with over 8 million visitors a year.

Pleasure for the eyes and the palate

Visiting a garden means immersing yourself in history, botany, architecture, culture, but also in gastronomy, as in the case, passing from the Marche to Liguria, of the Gardens of Villa della Pergola in Alassio ( giardinidivilladellapergola.com), immersed in a luxuriant garden of 22 thousand square meters, where the Mediterranean vegetation mixes with rare and exotic plants: an extraordinary collection of agapanthus with about 500 different varieties. The park was built in 1875 by the Scottish general William Montagu Scott McMurdo and his wife Lady Susan Sarah Napier who wanted to build a private home to spend the winter and spring on the Riviera. After a period of neglect and decay in 2006, following the judicial auction, the park and its villas were purchased by a consortium of friends led by Silvia and Antonio Ricci to avoid building speculation and restored by the landscape architect Paolo Pejrone. Villa della Pergola has become a luxury hotel of the Relais et Châteaux family with the Nove restaurant, one Michelin star led by chef Giorgio Servetto.
