ROME – To highlight the close link between Toyota racing cars and road cars such as the GR Yaris which was developed ad hoc using the know-how acquired by the team in the World rally championship. This is the main objective of the newborn Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy which has just unveiled the new official livery of the car whose official presentation is scheduled for the Rally Italia Sardegna, the Italian test of the Wrc which will take place from 3 to 6 June next. . The new livery incorporates the official red, black and white colors of the Toyota Gazoo Racing, while on the characteristic carbon fiber roof stands the Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy logo that will follow the activities of the single-make. The logos of the championship sponsors are highlighted on the bodywork: Kinto the brand dedicated to Toyota’s mobility services offer, Pirelli world leader in Rally tires, Omp official supplier of Toyota Gazoo Racing in WRC and LoJack leader in telematics and recovery solutions of stolen vehicles as well as partner of Toyota Motor Italia since 2014.
“We are ready for the debut of the first Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy single-make championship – declared Mariano Autuori, marketing director of Toyota Motor Italia – a project that was born in the wake of the great success that Toyota is enjoying worldwide in motorsport. The protagonist of the championship could only be the new GR Yaris, the maximum expression of how the skills in motorsport allow us to design ever better cars ”.
The stages of the single-make championship, organized in collaboration with Aci Sport, will be five and will see the involvement of numerous teams, among the most important on the national scene, who have chosen the GR Yaris Rally Cup. A competition that promises to be fierce and enriched by a prize money of 300,000 euros which will be distributed between race prizes and final prizes, with particular attention to teams and young drivers.
The GR Yaris in the R 1T 4 × 4 version will be homologated in the first days of June, to be ready for its debut in competitions at the first appointment of the single-make series scheduled for 12-13 June at the Alba Rally. Subsequently, the challenges will be held on 23-25 July at the Rally di Roma Capitale, on 4-5 September at the Rally 1000 Miglia, on 9-10 October at the Rally 2 Valli and on 30-31 October at the Rally in Modena.
