Tram Collision at Universal Studios Leaves Over Dozen Injured: Sheriff’s Office

(CNN) — More than a dozen people suffered non-life-threatening injuries this Saturday night during a tram collision at Universal Studios in California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to CNN.

The tram driver indicated that a mechanical failure occurred that caused one of the cars to crash into a rail and several passengers to fall, the sheriff’s office said, adding that the incident occurred around 9 p.m. PST.

“Possibly 14 or 15” people were injured, the sheriff’s office said.

“There was an incident with the tram at the theme park this Saturday that resulted in multiple minor injuries, confirmed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department,” a spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood said in a statement. “We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”

The incident is still under investigation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

This is a developing story.
