Cosmoprof North America, an event dedicated to the cosmetic industry on the American continent, opens today and until July 14 in Las Vegas. A key event for the cosmetics industry, especially for Italian companies, which export over 40% of their production to the world (in 2021 the value of Italian cosmetics exports exceeded 4.8 billion euros, growing 13.8% compared to 2020).

“After the long-awaited 2022 edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, which, following postponements and changes in the last two years, allowed us to meet last April at the Bologna exhibition center, we are now confident in looking to restart, in the completeness of their offer, of the international variations of Cosmoprof – comments Renato Ancorotti, president of Cosmetica Italia -. This is an important step to return to express on foreign markets the strength of the Italian cosmetic system and the peculiarities of our cosmetics, appreciated all over the world for quality, safety, technological innovation and creativity ».

A signal of the desire to restart, also through participation in international events such as Cosmoprof North America, comes above all from companies: almost 80 Italian companies will be present at the fair. Among these, about 50 have joined the collective participation proposed by Ice-Agenzia, in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia, and realized thanks to the extraordinary measures in support of Italian companies for the Covid-19 emergency: an opportunity, reserved for product companies finished under brand or contract, also enhanced through a digital marketing campaign.

The United States, alongside Europe, is the main cosmetic market in the world with a value that reached 80 billion euros in 2021. Italian cosmetic exports to North America (USA and Canada) represent 11.6% of total exports for a value of 563 million euros. Specifically, for Italy the United States is the second destination of its exports, surpassed only by France; the value of cosmetics exported from Italy to North America in 2021 was 528 million euros: an increase of 28% compared to the previous year.

The comparison of the flow of exports from Italy to the US compared to 2019, before the pandemic is interesting: in this case there is a + 3%, significant in view of the reaction to the crisis of recent years. The most requested Italian cosmetics on the US market are face and body care products (132.5 million euros, + 45.8% compared to 2020), followed by hair care (129.6 million euros, + 18% compared to 2020) and alcoholic perfumery (127 million euros, +59.3 compared to 2020). Not far from these values ​​also make-up which, in fourth place, reaches 115 million euros, but following the restrictions imposed by the health emergency, it records negative trends (-1% compared to 2020 and -23.6% compared to 2019).
