Xu Fan and Yang Lixin, who have not performed this work for more than ten years, have returned, and together with Pu Cunxin and other young actors, they will present a special “Academy Celebration Edition” “Cai Wenji” to the audience.
Right now, the actors are rehearsing in full force in the theater. Walking into the rehearsal hall, you will find that the atmosphere of this crew is quite relaxed, and there is a tacit understanding among old friends. Xu Fan, Yang Lixin, and Pu Cunxin all took over “Cai Wenji” from their predecessors in 2001, and played Cai Wenji, Zhou Jin, and Dong Si respectively. In 2011, Beijing Renyi launched a new version of “Cai Wenji”, starring a younger generation of actors, Xu Fan, Yang Lixin and others no longer appearing, and Pu Cunxin changed from Dong Si to Cao Cao. This time, Xu Fan will play Cai Wenji, Yang Lixin will play Zhou Jin, and Pu Cunxin will play Cao Cao. This is the first time the three of them have arranged cooperation in such roles. Director Tang Ye revealed that the return of the two old friends was facilitated by Pu Cunxin, and it was a gift from them for the 70th anniversary of the academy. She said that the biggest challenge in this reenactment is that the lines are so hard to memorize. “When I was young, I only thought about the results, and I would use too much force.” Now Xu Fan has returned to “Cai Wenji” with his richer performance experience and experience, and has already understood how to use force more reasonably. In the second scene of the fourth act, the conversation between Cai Wenji and Cao Cao, she was arguing in a hurry at first, but now it seems that Cai Wenji will not be arguing with Cao Cao. “If I play again now, although I will still appear anxious, I will calmly and reasonably say that the change is that my heart is more stable.”
Rearrangement director Tang Ye also joined the crew of “Cai Wenji” in 2001. He started as an assistant director and worked with actors in several versions. She said that this time the performance will have some new integrations, such as slightly different interpretations and fine-tuning of stage scheduling, but it must conform to the aesthetic concept of old artists and look better. “The adjustment of the stage rhythm is relatively more. We hope that the play will not be too heavy, and the rhythm can be slightly faster. For example, the honor guard part has been adjusted from more than three minutes to more than two minutes, and now it is adjusted to one and a half minutes, because This format is no longer new to today’s audience, we are just restoring the classic scenes in the play.”
As a director, Tang Ye knows that some things can be moved and some things cannot be moved, but this does not mean that there is no new atmosphere in this play. “Our performances are the freshest, and we are not trying to draw red molds.” Actually, different The actors in the series will also give the characters completely different temperaments. Take Cao Cao in the play as an example. In the past 20 years, Liang Guanhua, Gu Wei and Pu Cunxin have played the roles. Three actors with completely different personalities have given the same characters different colors.
