Yellow area, cultural sites and museums reopen in Sicily: but the Ancient Theater of Taormina only at the end of the month

by admin

Even the Isola Bella for now remains off-limits to visits due to urgent safety work

TAORMINA – The Ancient Theater will still remain closed in Taormina, and Isola Bella, despite the transition to the “yellow zone”, museums and art sites in Sicily will also reopen in Sicily from today.

Until the end of February – explains Gabriella Tigano, director of the Naxos Taormina Park – we are forced to keep the Ancient Theater closed due to indispensable works on the Enel cabin that serves the entire town: interventions incompatible with the presence of visitors, even if in reduced, given the current paralysis of tourist flows due to the pandemic ».

“On the other hand – adds Tigano – the works on Isola Bella are about to start, where in the next few days the extraordinary maintenance works will be set up which, in addition to restoring offices and ticket offices, will allow the recovery of some areas currently off-limits to visitors for reasons of safety. We plan to reopen the site definitively in a few months, and in any case – observes the director of the Naxos Taormina Park – before the summer season, giving back to the ever-numerous visitors new spaces of this fascinating period residence, so camouflaged in the landscape and flora of the island to be one with the surrounding environment ».

Meanwhile, among the sites managed by the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park, the Museum and Archaeological Area of Naxos and the Archaeological Museum of Francavilla di Sicilia (Mafra) are once again accessible to visitors from Monday to Friday. No visits on Saturday and Sunday, as per government regulation.
