The condolences of the country
“I learned the terrible news of the death, in Modena, of a boy of just 14, whose family comes from Sant’Egidio del Monte Albino”. Thus began the message of condolence that the acting mayor of Sant’Egidio del Monte Albino (Salerno), Antonio La Mura, entrusted to the institutional social networks around midnight yesterday to express the pain for the disappearance of the young man. «Mario – wrote the mayor – fell ill with Covid. He overcame the infection, fighting like a lion for ninety days, but he was unable, although he was negativized, to overcome the dramatic consequences of the disease on the internal organs ». “In this moment of inconsolable pain, I want to publicly express”, to parents and family members, “the moving closeness of the entire community of Sant’Egidio”. Today, even the former mayor and now regional councilor of Campania, Nunzio Carpentieri, on Facebook, stressed that the death of Mario is “another dramatic piece of news, which we never wanted to hear”. “The consequences of the covid took him away from us, after a battle that lasted 90 days”, he added, concluding that, to his family, “I would like my most sincere and moved embrace to arrive”.
