Pisa is confirmed capital of medical scientific research. It will take place in fact Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September at Stazione Leopolda the ‘2nd International Masterclass on Proctology and Pelvic Floor Diseases’. The conference will be attended by over 150 experts, of which one third from European and non-European countries. “An important appointment – said the mayor Michele Conti – which for two days brings together about 150 doctors, professors and experts from all over the world in the shadow of the Tower. A conference that once again confirms Pisa as one of the main international capitals of medical and scientific research and represents, after the forced stop due to the pandemic, an opportunity to relaunch congress tourism in the city, a fundamental resource that contributes to expand and qualify the tourist offer of Pisa. I therefore welcome all the professionals participating in this event, wishing them all good work “.

“This is an international event with a high scientific value – declared the President of the City Council Alessandro Gennai – which marks the return to face-to-face meetings after the long months of the pandemic. As an administration we have a duty to support this kind of initiatives. “The event, in its second edition, will feature interactive round tables and all participants will have the opportunity to actively participate in the discussion, answering specific questions through digital media. Finally, a specific session will be dedicated to robotics and the results of an international study, promoted by Naldini and Simoncini, on the use of robotic technology in complex pathologies of the Pelvic Floor.

“The topics covered – he declared Gabriele Naldini, director of the Aoup Proctology and Pelvic Floor Multidisciplinary Clinical Center – are very topical. In fact, there are more and more requests for high-level services to solve pathologies of great impact on the quality of life of the people who are affected. Despite all the difficulties related to the pandemic, we managed to organize this congress which reopens a season of international meetings in the presence “.” The conference will follow a multidisciplinary approach – he has declared Tommaso Simoncini, full professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Pisa and director of the complex operational unit of Obstetrics and University Gynecology 1 of the Aoup – the current trend in fact leads more and more towards the need to treat this pathology in specialized multidisciplinary centers. A philosophy that we have already adopted in Pisa for some years: in fact, it is here that the first multidisciplinary clinical center in Italy was born entirely dedicated to proctological diseases and pelvic floor dysfunctions. “The congress obtained the patronage of the municipality of Pisa and more important international surgical associations.
