The last year (indeed, now the last two years) it changed us but it also changed our relationship with things. And the things themselves too. He changed computers, for example.
During the second half of 2021, Acer, Asus, Lenovo and others have told us how it happened, even in unexpected ways: first of all, while there has been an understandable surge in demand for laptops, on the other hand there has been a return of desktops, the desktop computers that seemed forgotten and instead proved to be perfect to function as home hubs that combine the needs of work, study, leisure and entertainment of all members of a family. Here, the family: if there is one thing that 2020 and 2021 have taught us is that, between smart working and remote teaching, a single computer for everyone was no longer enough. And this has definitely pushed sales up, so much so that producers (also due to the microchip crisis) have often found themselves in trouble trying to meet demand.

And from a technological point of view? To give some examples: we as customers have focused more on camera quality, essential for meetings and lessons, than on processor power, more on resolution and screen quality, which we have in front of our eyes perhaps for 8-10 hours a day, which on the jig of Ram memory available. Above all, we asked laptops for greater lightness, portability, versatility, even at the expense of other features. And the producers have adapted, even with the Windows 11 complicity: the new operating system from Microsoft, which has put the user and his interactions with others at the center, has pushed even more in this direction.
Less hardware and more software it seems too the philosophy of Chromebooks, notebooks based on Google’s Chrome browser and in some way also on Android, which 10 years after their birth have experienced a new youth: they are cheap, they last a long time, they are easy to use and are quickly ready to use. Like a smartphone, but with a keyboard.

At the other end of the spectrum there are Macs, especially MacBooks: with M1 chips, and even more with their M1 Pro and Max evolutions, Apple has proved indisputably that battery and computing capacity are no longer enemies and that you can have a laptop that consumes little but gives a lot, a lot. Other manufacturers, starting with Intel, will have to take this into account and adjust their chips.
