The average values ​​of a healthy person who follows a correct diet must be understood between 60 and 130 mg / dl. While fasting should be between 70 and 110 mg / dl. If there are peaks between 100 and 125 mg / dl, or higher than 126 mg / dl, we speak of high blood sugar.

Diabetes is among the main causes of the increase in this sugar, but it can also be caused by excessive consumption of carbohydrates, prolonged periods of dehydration, little physical activity and stress. However, it can be caused by an infection, surgery, serious illness, or the use of certain medications.

The most common symptoms, on the other hand, are constant thirst, dryness of the throat and mouth, excessive weight loss, blurred vision, tiredness and fatigue. In addition, it can cause headache, nausea, vomiting, urinating more often, skin or urinary tract infections, acetoneemic breath, xerostomia.

To lower blood sugar, in addition to nutrition, you need to do a lot of physical activity, at least 5 days a week.

To lower this sugar, let’s see which foods can be eaten and which cannot. You should eat low glycemic index foods such as unsweetened fruit, whole legumes, whole grains, vegetables (lettuce, fennel, zucchini and radicchio), herring, sardines, mackerel, soybean oil, linseed, kiwi, grapes (rich in Omega 3). Protein-rich foods such as cottage cheese, cod, chicken breast, lean ricotta and eggs should also be eaten.

Foods with many vitamins are also useful, especially A, C and E. Extra virgin olive oil can also be used.

On the other hand, very fatty foods, alcoholic or very sugary drinks should be avoided. Also avoid fatty cheeses, bread, pizza, sausages, wrüstel and margarine.
