The future is really at hand. A company called Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE) has revealed plans for a production studio and stadium in space. The special module called SEE-1 is expected to launch in December 2024 as part of a new module for Axiom’s commercial space station that will connect to the International Space Station.
More details are revealed on SEE’s website, and the mod will be the first commercial component of the International Space Station, expected to host music and sporting events, as well as a movie studio for its movie sets.
A description of SEE-1 on the website states, “SEE-1 – a unique microgravity film, television, sports and entertainment production and broadcast module to be launched in 2024 and attached to the Axiom Commercial Space Station (AxCSS) “.
“SEE-1 is a great opportunity for humanity to enter a different field and open an exciting new chapter in space,” SEE co-founders Dmitry and Elena Lesnevsky said in a media release. “It will provide a unique and accessible home for limitless entertainment possibilities in a venue filled with innovative infrastructure that will unleash a new world of creativity. With the world-leading Axiom Space building this cutting-edge revolutionary facility, SEE-1 will provide not only the first, but also the highest quality spatial fabric to enable the $2 trillion global entertainment industry to expand into low-Earth orbit.”
Additionally, the upcoming Tom Cruise project in space is co-produced by SEE, which does suggest that filming on the project could take place in the SEE-1 mod. It’s also important to note that by 2028, the Axiom commercial space station and the SEE-1 module will be detached from the ISS and become self-contained.
