We reported last month,Steam Suddenly a “Kaguya Ji wants people to confess~The Love and Mind Battle of Geniuses~” is an adaptation of the game, but the captured character materials are all stolen pictures, and the game was once removed from the shelves. After that, the developer quietly changed its name and relaunched a “Doki Doki First Love Club!” at the original site, which obviously imitated the “Doki Doki First Love Club!”Heartbeat Literature Department》 (Doki Doki Literature Club!)
On May 19, a game “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War” released under the name of Shueisha was released on Steam. However, the game background and UI are rough, and even the “Kaguya Ji” character in the picture is captured and taken from the illustration of a fan painter. Afterwards, according to Japanese media GameSpark, it asked Shueisha to verify that it was a counterfeit.
However, after things expanded, the game was taken off the shelves before the original scheduled launch date on June 1. However, just two days ago, the developer re-listed a “Doki Doki First Love Club!” and emphasized in the official introduction, “This work has nothing to do with the Heartbeat Literature Department.” The name of the developer was also changed several times, and later changed to Teriyaki Studios, but the developer still wrote “Shueisha” (Shueisha).
Since there was already a history of pirating pictures last time, a careful examination of the newly-replaced pictures also came out of their own accord. The three girls in the picture below are from a piece called “Nothing is Beautiful.” on itch.io.Indie game. Interestingly, this demo-only game seems to be a work influenced by the “Heartbeat Literature Department”, including the heroine with mental problems, and the special effects of the “Heartbeat Literature Department”.
The other loli character is a template model of the animation production software “live2D”.
The only thing that hasn’t changed is the pirated connoisseur’s comments, and the original “Kaguya Ji Wants to Confess”PiracyThe introduction of the game, “The War of Love between the Student Council President and the Vice President”, only has to change the name of the character. Currently, the Steam store page is still being launched on June 1, but the game is not officially launched.
Based on these two behaviors, and the “Heartbeat Literature Club” only recently announced that it will launch an enhanced version of the “Heartbeat Literature Club Plus”, it is hard not to think it is a common malicious phishing game on Steam. Players must also be careful before purchasing any games.
