Aifa Reports Withdrawal of Batch of Anti-Inflammatory Analgesic Lixidol

The Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) has announced the precautionary withdrawal of a batch of the popular anti-inflammatory analgesic Lixidol. The batch in question, lot no. F3053F02, is produced by Altais Pharma Srl, based in Rome.

The decision to withdraw the batch was made in order to protect patient safety after out-of-specification data concerning the turbidity parameter of the finished product was detected. Lixidol contains the active ingredient ketorolac tromethamine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to reduce inflammation and pain.

Lixidol is indicated for use in adults and adolescents over 16 years of age for the short-term treatment of moderate pain after surgery, with a maximum duration of 5 days.

Patients who have purchased Lixidol with batch number F3053F02 are advised to discontinue use and contact their healthcare provider for further instructions. Aifa and Altais Pharma Srl are working together to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
