During the summer heat, one of the most used methods to keep homes cool is not just by refrigerating them with air conditioners, but by dehumidifying the rooms. However, these systems have two problems: the first, that they are currently not energy efficient, consuming about 76% of the electricity in commercial and residential buildings; the second is that to proceed with dehumidification, refrigerant gases are used which contribute to the production of greenhouse gases.
