With the end of AMD’s CES press conference, it also opened the floodgates of new laptops. Dell is the first to release two Alienware M15 R7 and M17 R5 laptops powered by Ryzen. Among the two, the 17-inch M17 R5 is the one with relatively complete specifications. In addition to the Ryzen 6000 series processors, you can choose NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and 3060 standalone displays, or AMD’s Radeon RX 6700M. Or 6850 XT alone. In the memory part, it can carry up to 64GB of DDR5 memory, plus up to 4TB of NVMe M.2 SSD.
M17 R5 has a variety of panel options, all of which support AMD Freesync and NVIDIA G-Sync technology, plus Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. On the keyboard, it also has the choice of CherryMX mechanical keyboard, but the overall weight is a bit heavier, reaching as much as 3.3 kg. As for the M15 R7, it is a 15-inch laptop and can support the latest RTX 30 series graphics cards. More details are yet to be announced by Dell.
This is the first time Alienware has adopted AMD processors in 14 years. These two new products are expected to be available this spring. The M15 R7 is priced at US$1,499, while the M17 R5 is US$1,599.
