The government continues to move forward with the reopenings and now it is also the turn of showers in gyms. In the update to 1 June of the Guidelines for basic sports and physical activity, a document published on the executive website, we read that “the use of showers is allowed, unless otherwise explicitly ordered by law more restrictive “. The new indication applies not only to the white areas, but also to the regions in yellow, limited by the rules of the last reopening decree: “It is believed – it was quoted in the document – that in the current state of the epidemiological curve it is forbidden to use showers , regardless of the interpersonal distancing of those who use it. Therefore, in sports facilities where the use of changing rooms is necessary, it will be necessary to prohibit the use of showers, as long as the improvement of the pandemic situation does not allow the competent bodies to take a different decision “.

Now, however, the green light has come, with a series of rules. It will in fact be necessary to organize the spaces and activities in the changing rooms and showers areas in order to ensure interpersonal distancing (for example, provide alternating workstations) or separate the workstations with special barriers. As for the use of showers, the importance of air exchange and cleaning and disinfection is further emphasized, which must be guaranteed regularly throughout the day. In addition to the particular hygiene and safety provisions that must be arranged for the use, where permitted, of changing rooms, showers and toilets, for which the operators of the sports center must provide for contingent access, it will be necessary to avoid the use of common applications, such as hairdryers, etc.… which must be brought from home when needed.

It is necessary to organize the spaces and activities in the changing room areas in such a way as to ensure the spacing of at least 1 meter, without prejudice to the obligation to wear a mask. These spaces must be subjected to constant cleaning and sanitizing procedures, with the use of disinfectant products, in relation to the number of people and the shifts of access to said spaces. Where possible, you will have to arrive at the site already dressed in a manner suitable for the activity that will take place, or in such a way as to use common areas only for minimal changes of clothes or that require reduced times, placing everything in special sealing containers. The site manager may also prohibit access to showers, inviting users and athletes to change only their wet swimsuit or training clothing, to dry their hair quickly and to complete the dressing as soon as possible. It will also ensure, also with the support of the site staff, to check that the athletes respect the distance during training, an imposition of the rules of prevention from the risk of contagion.
