AMD bids farewell to GCN architecture and terminates driver support for Radeon 7000, 200, 300 and Fury series graphics cards | XFastest News

AMD confirmed that it will phase out a large number of graphics cards today. Starting from Radeon Fury’s Adrenalin 21.6.1 driver graphics card, Radeon 300 and Radeon 200 series will no longer be supported, because all these graphics cards have been moved to the old version.

This means that the last driver to support these graphics cards is the 21.5.2 driver. AMD further clarified that “there are no plans to release additional drivers,” which does not explain whether AMD still intends to fix important security issues in the future. In addition, AMD will phase out its Radeon HD 7000 series (released in 2011) and HD 8000 series (released for OEMs a year later). The Radeon 200 series was released in 2013, and an update using the same chip was released in 2014. The “Youngest” series retired today is the Fury series that debuted in 2015.
