AMD began to challenge Intel’s dominance by relying on Ryzen 4000 series processors, and the Zen 3 generation of Ryzen 5000 clearly posed a threat to Intel, and what’s next? Today at CES AMD launched the Ryzen 6000 series of mobile processors. In addition to the 6nm Zen 3+ process, there is an important new feature: RDNA 2 internal display. AMD claims that these new processors will have twice the speed of the previous generation and can play most AAA titles at 1080p.

Overall, the Ryzen 6000 mobile processor will be 11% faster than Ryzen 5000 in single-threaded work and 28% faster in multi-threaded work. And not just speed, AMD claims that its Zen 3+ core can enter a deeper sleep state, allowing it to reduce energy consumption by 30% during video conferencing, or reduce energy consumption by 40% when watching movies, reaching 24 Hours of continuous video playback. Other features include support for DDR5 memory, Wi-Fi 6E integration, and better support for interfaces such as PCIe 4.0 and USB 4.

As for the specific products, first of all, each frequency band is a 45W chip and a 35W chip in pairs. The highest order is the Ryzen 9 6980HX (45W) and Ryzen 9 6980HS (35W) with 8 cores and 16 threads, up to a frequency of 5GHz, and then the pair of Ryzen 9 6900HX (45W) and Ryzen 9 6900HS (35W). The highest frequency is 4.9GHz. Then down are Ryzen 7 6800H (45W) and Ryzen 7 6800HS (35W), which are also 8-core 16 threads, the highest frequency is 4.7GHz, and finally Ryzen 5 6600H (45W) and Ryzen 5 6600HS (35W), They all have 6 cores and 12 threads, with a frequency of 4.5 GHz. AMD also mentioned the U-series flagship 6800U processor at the press conference, which brings 8 cores and 4.7GHz clock, and another Ryzen 5 6600U, which is 6 cores and 12 threads, with a maximum frequency of 4.5GHz .

Compared with Intel’s introduction of large and small cores in the 12th generation of desktops, AMD does not seem to have much surprises here. It still uses the RDNA 2 internal display as the main selling point for players who only need light games. RDNA 2 displays a display that supports both FreeSync technology and Dynamic HDR. AMD claims that RDNA 2 will be about 70% faster than the internal display of Intel’s 11th generation Core i.
