Andrea Costa, the Undersecretary of Health: ‘Yes to the reduction of the quarantine’

by admin

From the reduction of the quarantine at school, to the need for the third dose, through the reopening of discos and the need to open a dialogue with No Vax. Health subspecialist Andrea Costa touches on a whole series of issues by speaking to Timeline on Sky TG24.

“In the school, a reduction in the quarantine for Covid positivity can be achieved from 7 to 5 days, or even less”. The undersecretary announced that “a reflection on the subject is underway. We cannot fail to take into account – he stressed – that today 80% of Italian citizens are vaccinated. Surely the current 7-day quarantine is a very invasive measure, it can be reduced. On the other hand, if we convey the message that the vaccine is the way out, but we know that even if we are vaccinated we can be infected, we must give perspectives to citizens ».

The undersecretary then said to “trust” that the decree on increasing the capacity of stadiums, cinemas and theaters “arrives very early, even this week, at the latest next. We have to say thanks to the 42 million Italians who have been vaccinated ».

The need to open a dialogue with No Vax

This is also why Costa then added that we must “continue talking to citizens who have not yet been vaccinated and who are not attributable to the No Vax category, with whom all scientific evidence continues to be useless. We must do this with a positive and reassuring message, and renewing full confidence in science every day. Politics must take a great responsibility in conveying this message. We cannot allow our hospitals to return to being occupied by Covid patients, we absolutely need them to continue with their ordinary activities, because even with prevention and treatment in fields such as oncology, lives are saved “.

Reopen the discos

“I believe that with the green pass and with the limitation of capacity, discos can also be opened, because we must also give an answer to this production sector, in the awareness that they too represent an economic sector, create employment, generate turnover”. And he added: «We absolutely must give an answer. Among other things, I think that opening these places, with the green pass, would allow us to activate a sort of screening in the youngest, in all unvaccinated children who would have to undergo a swab to enter », he concluded.

On the third dose

Then the Undersecretary for Health intervenes on the third dose issue. And he underlines: “It is reasonable to think that, over time, we proceed in a fairly homogeneous and widespread manner with the administration of the third dose of the anti-Covid vaccine“. Then: “We – clarifies the undersecretary – we rely on our regulatory bodies: we have Aifa, we have the CTS, we obviously have to renew full confidence in them every day, so we await indications”. However “I believe – affirms Costa – that it is more a reflection linked to the timing of administration, because it is clear that even in these cases it is necessary to establish priorities in the awareness that the priority is dictated by the fact that we must secure our citizens and therefore we must start with those who risk the most. And these data are provided to us by science ».

No isolation for Covid Free destinations

No fiduciary isolation upon returning to Italy from one of the extra-EU destinations provided in the Covid-free tourist corridors established by the Ministry of Health, but there is an obligation to carry out the test with a molecular or antigenic swab departing from Italy and in arrival on the national territory. Furthermore, if the stay in the foreign country is longer than 7 days, a test is required to be carried out during the period of stay. The subjects are exempted from fiduciary isolation by presenting a negative test carried out in the previous 48 hours upon boarding from the foreign country and making a further test on arrival at the domestic airport. The ordinance is valid until January 31, 2022, except for any extensions.

Extension of 1 month for referendums, also for the one on the Green pass

The extension of the terms for the referendums will be one month. It is learned from government sources, on the eve of the approval of the norm in the CDM. The extension will be valid, it is explained, for the referendums being presented and therefore for the one on cannabis but also for the one for the abolition of the Green pass.
