PADUA. Professor Angelo Paolo Dei Tos has been elected President of the School of Medicine of the University of Padua, who will take office on 1 October 2022, succeeding Professor Stefano Merigliano and the mandate will last three years.

«I am very happy with the appointment of Angelo Paolo Dei Tos as president of the Board of the School of Medicine of our university – says Daniela Mapelli, rector of the University of Padua -. In addition to being a scientist of recognized value, Professor Dei Tos is a person of great humanity, capable of understanding and sharing different sensitivities. A person with a marked human depth to whom in fact I asked to be part of the governance team, entrusting him with the delicate delegation to the Treviso medical center and to the health professions. In recent months, Professor Dei Tos has been able to weave relationships by carrying out, as part of his delegation, an excellent job that now, I imagine, will be able to continue in his new role as president of the Padua Medical School. I thank Professor Stefano Merigliano for the work he has done and will continue to do until the end of his mandate ».

The Padua School of Medicine has a total of almost 10,000 students enrolled in single-cycle master’s degree courses (Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Chemistry and pharmaceutical technologies, Dentistry and prosthetic techniques), master’s degree courses and three-year courses distributed not only in the Veneto area but also outside the region.

Full Professor of Pathological Anatomy, Angelo Dei Tos has more than 470 papers published in the most prestigious international scientific journals and is one of the leading experts in the field of rare neoplasms, and is currently director of the UOC in Pathological Anatomy and director of the Integrated Diagnostics Department. of the Hospital / University of Padua.

Naturally very satisfied with the unanimous consent shown by the councilors of the School of Medicine, Professor Angelo Paolo Dei Tos declares: “I would like to underline some points of my program that I particularly care about, such as the primary vocation of the School, that is to train future doctors and researchers , as well as new managers through the close interconnection of top-level teaching, research and assistance; in fact, the School of Padua has in all areas of medicine a recognition of excellence both nationally and internationally.

The close connection between research and assistance constitutes a distinctive and qualifying element that is immediately “visible” to citizens both in the quality of academic training and in the clinical-assistance one.
