Apacer confirmed that AMD’s first AM5 desktop series will support DDR5-5200 memory.
Officially AMD has only confirmed that its next-gen Ryzen series will support DDR5, but the company has never revealed any details on the default speeds that will be supported. At the same time, the leaked documents say the platform will support DDR5 exclusively, and there is no indication of support for the DDR4 standard.
According to a leak from Apacer, the Ryzen 7000 series may support DDR5-5200 by default, which is 400 MHz higher than the memory supported by the JEDEC and Intel Alder Lake platforms. The chart also confirms that there is no DDR4 support, and that EPYC Genoa also offers DDR5-5200 support out of the box. These Ryzen and EPYC platforms are powered by AMD Zen4 architecture.
AMD’s new AM5 platform will be officially launched in the second half of 2022. It is expected to launch at the end of the third quarter/early the fourth quarter.
