App Store Foundations, 36 Italian developers promoted by Apple

by admin

“We are delighted to support the talent and creativity of Italian developers,” said Christopher Moser, Apple Senior Director of the App Store in Europe. “By welcoming our 36th Italian developer to the App Store Foundations Program, and at the same time extending it to a greater number of countries, we reaffirm our commitment to collaborate and dialogue constantly with developers.”

But what is the secret of success for a developer? What are the winning elements? We asked Daniel Matray, App Store & Apple Media Service. «Well, it is a rather complex sector. There are so many elements at the same time, there is the technological part and there are so many different alternatives, there is the business aspect and there is the whole marketing and distribution part. So, what we are trying to do is to cover all these elements and provide an introduction to the developers, so that they have all the tools and the answers to this question ». Matray explained to us that “the program lasts a few weeks, and we work individually with each developer. There is a team of experts who give very specific, very focused, very personalized advice to developers on what they need to do and why they should do it, and over the course of the program, as developers begin to create the their app or to make the changes, they can see the benefits ».

And if we ask him about the rapidly growing models, Matray doesn’t have many doubts: “As far as trends are concerned, in the last two or three years we have seen the rise of the subscription model, because it is convenient for customers, it has a good value for money, it allows you to access a lot of content at a very low price, and it is also easy for developers to integrate thanks to the tools we provide. It is a model that has brought many developers into new categories, for example health and fitness. But I am also thinking of apps related to media, to the world of music or that of video ».

Impossible not to mention Covid, which obviously “had a huge impact on the business“. Matray explained to us that “it was not easy to keep up with work, private life and innovation at the same time”. So «we wanted to help those small developers who generate a turnover of less than $ 1 million on the App Store, reducing our commissions by 15%. And the initiative was a huge success, the developers responded extremely positively and welcomed it with pleasure. The vast majority of developers are part of this program, which we consider to be a successful initiative. And that’s why we renewed it this year ».
