“I feel good now. But ten years is a long time and another ten … I don’t think so.” Tim Cook, 60 and 23 at Apple, doubts he’ll be in Cupertino for more than a decade. In an interview with the New York Times’ Sway podcast, Apple’s chief executive touches on numerous topics, from Parler’s block to Tesla and driverless cars. “I’ve never talked to Elon” Musk, Tesla’s number one, “but I have tremendous admiration and great respect for the company he built,” says Cook. Tesla’s boss has revealed in recent months that he has attempted to contact Apple for a possible sale of his company.
On autonomous cars, Apple’s CEO doesn’t reveal the cards. To those who asked him for a comment on the persistent rumors about an Apple Car he replies: “An autonomous car is a robot. And there are many things that can be done with this technology. We will see what Apple will do”.
On the removal of the Parler app from the Apple platform, Cook explains that it was a decision related to the non-compliance with the guidelines of the App Store. “You can’t incite violence or allow it to incite violence,” says Cook, expressing concern about how social media amplifies the messages.
