It is the day of the meeting with the population for asl1, Rotary, Red Cross e Confesercenti who have joined forces to raise awareness on the prevention of colorectal cancer. Early diagnosis and prevention are a powerful weapon, in a nutshell: lives can be saved.
Asl1, Rotary, Croce Rossa, with the collaboration of Confesercenti, have teamed up to kick off a prevention and screening campaign that will affect Sanremo, Imperia and Ventimiglia with information banquets for the population between 50 and 69 years old invited to the exam for the detection of occult blood in the faeces.

Today, in via Escoffier, in the heart of Sanremo, Asl1 staff has set up a rich gazebo to inform passers-by about prevention activities. Behind them also a huge one inflatable colon, to allow everyone a ‘journey’ to discover the most hidden (and too often ignored) corners of our body. An interactive way to understand the importance of taking care of ourselves.

Out of 100 colonoscopies 2.5% they are carcinomas and many patients have a very early examination while in 7% of cases there are lesions that could have become cancers and that, by intervening, will never become cancers. In the case of colorectal cancers the survival at 5 years it is more than 50%, while with early diagnosis it reaches over 90%.

After today’s appointment in Sanremo, it is repeated on 2 October in Ventimiglia e on October 16 in Imperia. At the banquets will be provided information on prevention, short consultations and the collection of the free kit for testing.
