AUSL Modena – ‘Sapere&Salute’, over 50 thousand people involved in 2023, the project is aimed at schools and deals with topics on the promotion of health and well-being of the community

The project has its basis in the Emilia-Romagna Regional Prevention Plan 2021-2025 (PRP), which in line with the National Plan describes health as the harmonious and sustainable development of the human being, nature and the environment (One Health) and identifies as a response to this also, and not only, the Health Promoting Schools Program (PP01). This last path takes the form of the activation of a regional network of schools which, through the co-construction of projects and/or processes between the world of education, healthcare, local authorities and the third sector, contributes to the psychophysical and emotional well-being of the school community, with a global approach to health with a view to sustainability and overcoming the fragmentation of interventions.

‘Sapere&Salute’ is active in all seven health districts of the province with courses that involve almost 600 schools in the province of Modena (from nursery to secondary schools), some with multiple projects at the same time, with over 40 thousand students involved almost 7,500 school workers are added, also interested in specific training courses. The contact persons for the project and in general for Health Promotion in the various Districts are: Gabriella Tritta, Roberta Bettelli, Barbara Silvestri, Federica Zucchi, Anna Confente, Claudia Baccolini, Maria Cristina Lazzari and Claudia Iacconi

Among the most widespread and participatory projects – divided between ‘Lifestyles and community projects’, ‘Diagnostic and health interventions’ and ‘Safety in living and working environments’ – there are ‘Drugs at school’ (training on the main pathologies that require the possibility of administering life-saving drugs in emergency situations), ‘Eat with taste, move with taste’ (promotion of healthy eating and physical behavior in pupils and their families), ‘RiSo’ (dedicated training course for teachers to the ‘hermit’ kids), ‘Mini Anne: can you save a life?’ (edited by 118 and the ‘Amici del Cuore’ association on First Aid techniques), ‘I choose’ (prevention project on pathological addictions).

“The Local Health Authority of Modena has always been actively involved in educational institutions and today even more so in the construction of schools that promote health – declares Gabriella Tritta, Company Manager for Health Promotion -. The objective is to start co-planning with school communities to trigger empowerment paths and create opportunities that facilitate the adoption of health choices”.
