Autism, in Trentino is faced in the theater and in the open air

The mountains can be therapeutic. In Trentino, a 360-degree approach to autism and autism spectrum disorders is adopted, with more interventions on the territory. To respond to the distressing “after us” of over 600,000 Italian families of autistic children, various initiatives are proposed.

Telephone support to help you find your way around family services

In the Vallagarina area, anxiety, the worry of an uncertain tomorrow for their children unites parents in a network in an attempt not to feel alone and share experiences and paths. The Blue Number Autism & Work aims to offer concrete support and help to the families of autistic children. In other words, there is a space in which families can receive answers allowing them to orient themselves within the services offered in the provincial territory.

A rehabilitation center

Also in Trentino, in Val di Non, there is a small jewel nestled in the mountains, “Casa Sebastiano”: it is a center for the rehabilitation of autism spectrum disorders, accredited with the Provincial Agency for Health Services of Trento for the residency and semi-residency of adolescents and adults.

The motor project is aimed not only at general psychophysical well-being but also at increasing self-esteem connected to feelings of self-efficacy and enhancement of the person’s active role in achieving pre-established goals. Children with autism may have difficulty organizing movements in a fluid and coordinated way, resulting in uncoordinated and somewhat clumsy, unable to carry out different motor programs, sometimes hyperactive, at the same time.
