First day of examination for the subject of “Anatomy-History of Medicine” at the degree course of Medicine and Surgery of the Alma Mater Studiorum in the new headquarters in the hospital of Forlì. On Wednesday the students took the first test in the didactic laboratories in the Valsalva pavilion of the “Morgagni-Pierantoni” hospital. “In addition to an oral interview – explains professor Irene Faenza, professor of Human Anatomy – a part of the exam is tackled by the students through the analysis of images, using the Anatomage Table, which allows you to observe life-size (and enlarge further) the anatomical structures of four bodies that have been dissected in all their parts in “slices” of a few tenths of a millimeter and photographed. This has allowed us to have “real” sections of the corpse which are then assembled so as to reconstruct in three size the entire body of the four subjects.
“Although it obviously cannot replace a real anatomical dissection – continues Professor Faenza – the table still allows the exploration and learning of human anatomy, allowing for example students to interact with young and well-preserved digital cadavers, and to see pathological variations up close, with accurate disease details, which are particularly useful for study and research. Teachers, on the other hand, can use the ‘Quiz Mode’ to create questions for students, which they will use the simulation to determine the elements useful to provide the answer “.
“We are particularly satisfied – concludes the professor – because the majority of students opted to take the exam in person, but the opportunity to take the remote exam will be given to those students who, due to the emergency health, have not had the opportunity to go to the headquarters of the Degree Course “.
