Bad surprises for those who bought these highly risky health supplements

by admin

There are many who use food supplements, periodically and for various reasons. Usually, they are helpful to athletes, to those suffering from nutritional deficiencies, to those who have problems chewing food and therefore forced to take them. Even if it is not a drug, we must not underestimate the times and methods of taking it, never improvise therapies, but follow the instructions of our doctor. In fact, there are times of day more suitable to use it, not exceeding the prescribed amount.

You can buy them in the form of vials, capsules, tablets and are concentrations of nutrients, such as mineral salts, fibers, omega 3, vitamins. Supplements can promote general well-being, but they are by no means a substitute for drugs, nor can they cure diseases. The Ministry of Health, in addition to defining guidelines on supplements, clarifies that a healthy and balanced diet could be enough to receive the right amount of nutrients. Because the use of supplements does not have to correct a lifestyle and a wrong diet.

To protect the health of all consumers, the Ministry also controls supplements, as well as all strictly food products. As already happened for the packages of mussels, permanently eliminated from the shelves, this time there are 3 types of food supplements in the sights.

On 27 July, in fact, the operators of the sector have withdrawn some boxes of Emacrit in sachets, of the Pharma line srl brand. Generally, those who buy this product have iron deficiencies, red blood cells, to counteract fatigue.

But it’s not the only high-risk supplement taken off all shelves and off the market on September 15th. We are talking about Lenicol capsules, Compe.Med srl brand, used by those who have to eliminate gas from the stomach and regularize bowel movements.

The third lot, recalled on September 16, concerns some boxes of winter defense Polase, by Glaxo Smith Kline, used to bring more mineral salts and vitamin C.

The lots involved, withdrawn and immediately reported are:

  • Pharma Line srl, Emacrit 30 sachets of 5976 mg, lot SG20004, expiring on 02/28/2022;
  • Compe.Med srl, Lenicol 36 capsules of 21.42 gr, lot 5962, expiry 01/2023;
  • GSK, Polase defense winter 28 and 14 sachets of 7.1 gr, lots DT256, GU238, GU239, maturities 4/2023, 6/2023.

Possible consequences

Bad surprises for those who have purchased these highly risky health supplements, because they contain an illegal or presumed amount of ethylene oxide. This is a very dangerous gas for human health, as it is toxic. Despite its disinfectant and sterilizing power, it is absolutely not suitable for ingestion. The possible consequences vary and could even be very serious and irreversible. It could trigger respiratory tract irritation, stroke, fluid spills. Anyone who has products recalled by the Ministry at home must absolutely not ingest them.
