We call them bags under the eyes, because when they are particularly pronounced they really look like supermarket bags filled with groceries! Swollen and heavy, resting between the lower part of the eye and the cheekbones. They mark our face in a decisive and evident way and almost never refine its aesthetics.
When you are young, they appear perhaps after an evening that ended in the small hours: a few drinks, a few hours of sleep and the next morning the mirror gives us a less florid image than usual, with a tired face, a dark shadow around the eyes and slightly thickened eyelids.
