Nowadays, the daily diet is increasingly based on industrial food products that promise multiple benefits, but the reality of the facts is decidedly different. They are often sold thanks to an advertisement that tells of incredible and effective properties, but in fact one is surrounded by foods with little nutritional value. In fact, the daily intake of these products, containing apparently healthy ingredients, in the long run can damage health in a very important way; favoring real pathologies from which to be very careful.
Be careful because the risks of heart problems increase with the consumption of these common drinks
One of the most popular drinks and loved by young and old are fruit juices. Practical to carry around thanks to their convenient packaging, they are a tasty alternative to water and according to commonplaces they are natural and rich in nutrients. Unfortunately, however, not all that glitters is gold: in fact the juices rich in vitamins and mineral salts are those produced at home with fresh and seasonal fruit and not the packaged ones that we find on the supermarket counters.
Industrial fruit juices are rich in preservatives and dyes and have a low vitamin content which is frequently artificially integrated. But the most worrying feature of these substances is the considerable presence of sugars. Precisely because of this peculiarity, many scholars have found that the continuous consumption of fruit juices can promote cardiovascular diseases and hypertension. So be careful because the risks of heart problems increase with the consumption of these common drinks.
In particular, the daily and excessive use of these juices with excessive sugary doses can contribute to the increase in central blood pressure and increase the risk of heart attack, angina and even a decline in cognitive abilities.
Tips for healthy use
Frequent consumption of fruit juices, therefore, can contribute to excessive sugar intake. To give an example, a 250 ml juice contains the equivalent of seven teaspoons: the World Health Organization advises not to consume more than six a day. Having said that, and understanding that it is not the juice itself that is harmful, but rather the ingredients added in excessive quantities, here are some tips on how to consume these drinks still appreciated by many:
- Drink in moderation and not as a substitute for fruit
- Do not consume them as a substitute for water
- Check the nutritional values on the outside of the packaging
- Do not feed them with a bottle during early childhood
- Do not add them to other sugary drinks
If you really want a juice, homemade juice with good fresh fruit is certainly the best solution for our health.
