by admin

Underlining the main medical and social aspects of the pediatric age in Italy today: this is the aim of the Conference “Medical and social aspects of the pediatric age in Italy”, organized by the Accademia dei Lincei, the Italian Society of Pediatrics and the Sapienza University of Rome. The event will be broadcast on the Academy’s streaming channel: www.lincei.it/it/live-streaming, tomorrow Tuesday 12 October starting at 9.30.

We will talk about denatality, one of the most important problems of our society that could quickly lead to a serious crisis in the social and welfare system and a decline in our country. Reference will be made to the inequalities already present from the earliest periods of life, accentuated by the pandemic that caused numerous and serious psychological, relational and social consequences in the pediatric age, especially for the indirect effects linked to isolation.

It will take stock of the existing difficulties in Italy in organizing assistance to children with congenital and rare diseases, the difficulties of young patients who live in the south and who, compared to those residing in the central and northern regions, have a higher neonatal and infant mortality. and that, when sick, they often have to move to another region for the necessary treatment.

The second part of the meeting will discuss the rights of children and the difficult family situations that worsened during the pandemic which also led to a serious economic crisis and a significant increase in child poverty. We will also talk about the crisis in the education and health system and the interventions that can be implemented to address and resolve the current critical issues.
