The protection of the biodiversity is one of the most important values ​​by which the sustainability of a company, because preserving ecosystems and species means respecting life, the natural heritage of the Earth, places and symbols of communities and is also fundamental in the fight against climate change.

With these concepts in mind, Enel Green Power continues in the search for new tools and techniques that allow dedicated strategies to improve the environmental sustainability of its installations, such as photovoltaic systems both on land and floating, wind farms and hydroelectric plants. To do it, the company has launched a challenge on the Open Innovability portal, that is, a challenge of ideas to find solutions that allow a better management of its plants in the world, from start to finish: design, construction, operation and decommissioning.

To partecipate there is time until June 25th of this year and in addition to satisfaction, there are 15 thousand dollars.

Enel Green Power has long been engaged in the production of energy from renewable sources (wind, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal) and the company is well aware that “an effective implementation of nature-based solutions could be a further lever to achieve the goal of keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees (compared to the pre-industrial era, ed. ) by 2030 “.

What has been done on Open Innovability so far
Over time, the site has hosted over 150 such challenges, reached 500 thousand people, collected thousands of solutions from over 100 countries around the world and entered into collaboration agreements with Italian and international companies, as well as with startups, researchers and individuals.

More: in 2020, 53 innovation and sustainability challenges were launched, of which 15 were also shared on partner platforms, 28 dedicated exclusively to people within Enel and 10 aimed at externally; have also been launched 17 challenges regarding the health emergency linked to the coronavirus. During this time, Enel has launched the global ReShape challenge to “identify innovative solutions for the future of energy and meet emerging needs”.

In total, of the over 300 innovative proposals received, about half came from ecosystems that are part of the company’s Innovation Hubs.
