There are 1,200 patients of the doctor suspended at the end of June who no longer know where to turn, left alone by a system unable to find suitable replacements to make up for the increasingly urgent shortages of general practitioners. The continuous attempts of the mayor Rino Pruiti, who wrote to Ats to ask “to intervene immediately, find a replacement and above all communicate to patients who no longer have a doctor – thunders the mayor -. Every day we receive calls from citizens who do not know what to do, who have not been notified and who have been told that in case of need they should go to the medical guard or the emergency room. We are absurd “.
The story of the suspension of the general practitioner of Buccinasco it is delicate: the reasons are still to be clarified. The fact is that Ats has notified the suspension, following the court order applying the temporary ban on practicing the medical profession. The judge is expected to rule on the matter in mid-September. To lose first of all the 1,200 assisted by the doctor, many of whom are elderly, disabled. “The doctor is absent indefinitely and has not yet been replaced: at the moment Ats does not find solutions – still the mayor -. We are available: we have already granted municipal-owned spaces to three doctors and last autumn we did everything possible to make up for the shortcomings of the Lombardy Region for the flu vaccination campaign, providing premises, logistics and volunteers. We cannot accept the continuous absence of Ats, which does not respond and does not give solutions, leaving our citizens alone “.
Ats sostiene that there is, as in many areas of Milan and its hinterland, one widespread shortage of general practitioners, also due to the Covid emergency which engaged the specialists. The solution can only be seen in the employment of an Usca doctor (Special Continuity Care Units), but everything still needs to be organized. Mayor Pruiti assures that he will continue to urge Ats to take a position and take action and invites citizens “to present complaints to the judiciary – he concludes -.
