A powdered cake mix was withdrawn from the market at the behest of the Ministry of Health due to a possible chemical risk.
Once again the Ministry of Health intervened to safeguard the health and safety of citizens, withdrawing a batch of product from supermarket shelves because it is contaminated with substances that are potentially dangerous for consumers. It is a powdered cake mix which may contain traces of ethylene oxide, very dangerous to health. As always in these cases, those who have already purchased the product are asked not to consume it and to bring it back to the point of sale where it was found.
Pastry mix withdrawn for ethylene oxide
It is a powdered muffin mix, marketed by Molino Merano Srl and sold in several supermarkets in Italy. The Ministry of Health has ordered the withdrawal from the shelves because the lot is contaminated with ethylene oxidee, a substance used for the preservation of many products but which in quantities exceeding the permitted, is highly harmful to the health of consumers. The government statement reads: “The blend contains a batch of carob seed flour subject to a health alert because contaminated with ethylene oxide.”

“Do not consume the product“- reads the press release -“and return the package to the shop where it was purchased “. 00095312 is the number of the contaminated batch and, therefore, withdrawn from the market at the behest of the Ministry of Health. It is not the first time that a product has been withdrawn for contamination with ethylene oxide or methylene oxide and in recent times the cases have been more and more frequent: this one substance, colorless and odorless, it can be very toxic if consumed in quantities greater than that established by regulations.
