intraductal papilloma is a benign lesion of the breast that forms from the epithelium of the mammary ducts intended for the secretion of milk. The size of the intraductal papilloma is very small. Usually it is not detectable either on examination or on palpation and the diagnosis is made due to the appearance of symptoms: the most common is serum or blood discharge from the nipple. This secretion can appear spontaneously or following a light squeezing. To reach the diagnosis of certainty, in addition to the usual mammography with ultrasound, which often do not show anything, it may also be necessary to perform a dutto-galactography, a radiological investigation that serves to visualize, by introducing a radiopaque contrast medium in a galactophore duct, the branches of the duct itself, thus highlighting any formations inside. In addition, it may be useful to perform a cytological examination on the secreted material.
Intraductal papilloma does not present a risk of development into carcinoma and it can be excluded with certainty that the anti-Covid vaccination may be the cause of the development of breast papillomas.
