WILL anti-inflammatories be the new weapon against depression? It is too early to say, but in the meantime, from a study just published onAmerican Journal of Psychiatry confirmation of the relationship between depression and inflammation, already hypothesized by various researches: “This research puts a firm point on a question that we have been asking ourselves for some time: today we can say that in depressed subjects, other things being equal, the level of inflammation is higher”, explains the Italian psychiatrist Carmine Pariante of Kings College of London, among the main authors of the study together with Maria Pitharouli and Cathryn Lewis.
