BRINDISI – Also this year the Nuclear Medicine Complex Operating Unit of the Perrino hospital in Brindisi has obtained the European Earl accreditation and the qualification of Center of Excellence. The recognition, already obtained in 2020 and confirmed for the current year, comes from Eanm (European Association of Nuclear Medicine), which since 2010 has been carrying out a survey on the quality of radiodiagnosis in specialized hospital departments. A certification in all respects, which certifies the level of efficiency and functionality of the equipment the structure is equipped with.
With the accreditation (in acronym: Earl Fdg Pet / Ct) in practice it is certified that quarterly checks are carried out in the department on the sophisticated equipment supplied; equipment used for high-tech diagnostic tests, such as positron emission tomoscintigraphies and computerized tomographies (precisely Pet / Tc). These tests are indispensable for the diagnosis of neurological, cardiological but above all oncological diseases.
“This goal – declared the director of Nuclear Medicine Dr. Artor Niccoli Asabella – was possible thanks also to the precious collaboration of the Health Physics Service and the daily commitment of the medical, technical and nursing staff of our Pet / Ct Center, founded eleven years ago by the never forgotten Doctor Bernardo Scarano. ” The European “sticker” guarantees patients that nuclear medicine machinery and tests are perfectly reliable, even more than the average. In 2020, about 2400 PET (positron emission tomography) examinations were performed in the Nuclear Medicine Unit.
