An investigation by the London newspaper raises serious concerns that WHO independence was compromised when the first cases of Covid appeared in Wuhan in 2019
The heart of the latest British investigation revolves around the alleged relations between Beijing and the leaders of the World Health Organization: the independence of the international control body undermined, the investigation into the origins of the virus would have suffered a form of early sabotage with the serious consequence of having speeded up the uncontrolled explosion of infections.
According to Sunday Times, China would have exploited its economic power to the detriment of other poorer countries, to include its men in the key roles of the WHO.
The director general of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a long-time “friend” of the Chinese government, has been targeted by the investigation. The former Ethiopian foreign minister met Xi Jinping in January 2020, shortly before the outbreak of the pandemic. Ghebreyesus would have used his figure to favor China.
