Chinese, as we know, is a very complex language and different from many others. Difficult to learn, especially for a Westerner. Hence the idea of Giuseppe Tomasello who founded Edugo, a startup with the mission of facilitating the teaching of foreign languages through technology and artificial intelligence and at the same time improving the profitability of schools brought to their knees by the Covid emergency .
Founded in Hong Kong in May 2019, Edugo is a startup with an international team but with a strong Italian component that provides its technology to at least 30 language institutes around the world and is able to teach eight different languages: Chinese, French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and Dutch. According to Tomasello Edugo is able to speed up learning by 5 times. “I studied business, but I started programming because I wanted to create an automated system that would allow me to learn Chinese faster and more specifically for my needs”. Tomasello explains. “The education sector – he continues – is one of the hardest hit by the 2020 crisis. Schools have been forced to adopt distance learning solutions for 1.5 billion students worldwide. Most language schools found themselves unprepared for this crisis and, almost a year later, are still adopting distance learning solutions, rather than embracing a more complex online strategy. These institutions need a scalable solution that allows them to acquire new students online, as well as digitize language content in an efficient, interactive and engaging way for students, but also easy and intuitive to create for teachers.
