It is speculated that Google will bring Hello face recognition similar to Windows 10 and Windows 11 into Chrome OS. In the future, Chromebook users It is expected to log in quickly through face recognition.

9to5google said that the Chromium code indicates that there will be a brand new “eye” icon in the system taskbar, presumably to notify the user that the HPS sensor is being activated. In addition to being used for face recognition, HPS can also detect whether the user is in front of the computer and has the distance sensing function of Pixel phones and Nest Hub.

The article also mentioned that Google is using Zork and Brya motherboards to test HPS. The former is a Chromebook with AMD processors and is already on the market; the latter is a 12-generation Intel processor to be launched later. It is not known when Google will provide face recognition on Chromebooks. It is pointed out that they may choose a specific manufacturer or directly launch it on their own Pixelbook.
